Shaping the Future:
Critical and Emerging Technologies

At Leo Lion, we believe the most compelling long-term investment opportunities lie in sectors that drive both financial returns and meaningful, lasting impact. That’s why we’re focused on advancing Critical and Emerging Technologies, with a strategic emphasis on Robotics, Energy, and Space.

By investing in transformative companies operating at the forefront of these fields—and backing founders who lead with integrity—we aim to accelerate innovation that tackles some of humanity’s most urgent challenges. These technologies hold the power to reshape industries, strengthen global resilience, and deliver sustainable, high-quality returns for the long term.

Humanoid Robotics: Shaping the Workforce of Tomorrow

Leo Lion’s investment in Apptronik’s humanoid robots stems from a recognition that the future of work is changing rapidly. Global labor shortages, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, and logistics, require new solutions that go beyond automation as we know it. Humanoid robots are designed to operate in environments built for humans, offering a way to complement and expand human labor.

We view these robots as essential to addressing both present and future challenges. As the population ages and economies struggle with skilled labor gaps, humanoid robots can fill roles that are increasingly difficult for humans to fill. These robots will not replace human workers but enhance productivity, safety, and quality of life. Leo Lion believes that humanoid robotics is not just an investment in automation—it’s an investment in a future where humans and machines collaborate to solve complex problems.

Outpost: Revolutionizing Space-to-Earth Logistics

Outpost is an aerospace company transforming global supply chains by enabling precise, rapid, and reusable cargo delivery from space to anywhere on Earth—within just two hours. Using cutting-edge technology like deployable heat shields and autonomous paragliders, Outpost’s spacecraft can safely return multi-ton payloads from orbit with pinpoint accuracy.

This breakthrough capability has powerful real-world applications. In times of natural disaster or humanitarian crisis, Outpost’s system can bypass damaged infrastructure and deliver critical supplies—such as medical equipment, food, water purification systems, or communications tools—directly to the affected area within hours. Traditional logistics routes that would take days or even weeks can be replaced by space-enabled rapid response.

Beyond emergency relief, this on-demand return service also unlocks possibilities for in-orbit manufacturing and defense resupply creating a new paradigm for how materials flow between space and Earth.

By turning space into a practical, responsive layer of global infrastructure, Outpost is not only expanding the role of space in everyday life but also making it a tool for timely, life-saving impact on the ground.

Small Modular Reactors: A Sustainable Energy Solution

Energy remains a cornerstone of societal development, and small modular reactors (SMRs) offer a new path toward clean, reliable, and scalable power generation. Unlike traditional large-scale nuclear plants, SMRs are more flexible, quicker to deploy, and have lower initial capital costs. These reactors can be built in factories and transported to sites, significantly reducing construction timelines and expenses.

Our investment in Zetta Joule, which commercializes proven Japanese high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) SMR technology, one of the safest and most versatile reactors, capable of producing industrial heat (over 850°C), hydrogen, as well as electricity.

The environmental benefits are equally compelling. HTGR SMRs produce minimal greenhouse gas emissions, making them an attractive solution for combating climate change while maintaining energy security. Their smaller size allows for more localized energy production, reducing transmission losses and ensuring energy availability even in remote areas. In developing regions, SMRs could play a vital role in providing electricity to underserved communities, fostering economic development, and improving quality of life.

Wind Energy: Harnessing Nature’s Power

Leo Lion’s commitment to clean energy doesn’t end with cutting-edge technologies like SMRs. The company has also invested in Radia’s innovative approach to wind energy through its GigaWind platform, powered by the groundbreaking WindRunner—the world’s largest aircraft designed to transport ultra-large wind turbine blades to previously inaccessible sites.

Wind is recognized as one of the most reliable and mature forms of renewable energy available today, and wind farms already contribute significantly to global energy production.

While wind energy itself is not new, its role in the energy transition is more important than ever. Radia’s GigaWind system—enabled by the WindRunner—aims to unlock new geographies, reduce costs, and dramatically improve efficiency.

Leo Lion views wind as a foundational component of the broader clean energy puzzle, complementing other renewable sources and helping nations accelerate their path toward carbon neutrality.

Whether it’s creating more efficient work environments, ensuring energy security, reducing carbon emissions, or enabling rapid, targeted delivery through space-to-Earth logistics, Leo Lion remains committed to driving positive change.
